“My soul rests in God alone…in God alone my soul rests.” Those words, the first two lines of a chant I learned at the Taize Community in France several years ago, describe the REST I yearn to have. I know that REST in God is possible; but sometimes it eludes me when I move out from under His protective care. For the past decade, God has been teaching me how to REST. Through trials and adversities to brokenness and surrender, I have been learning how to seek His REST.
Scripture is clear about where and how to find REST and the many facets of God’s REST as outlined in His Word. In the Holy Bible, you can learn what happens when there is a lack of REST, conditions for God’s REST and the rewards and blessings that are to be found when we REST in God alone.
I urge you to seek and find God’s REST for yourself by reading and meditating on God’s Word (Psalm 119). May God’s blessings and rewards abound to you as you learn to abide and REST in Him at all times.
