Three Times a Day

Christian career, christian careers, Christian career tools, career guidance from the bible, godly relationships, prayer for career guidance, what does the bible say about careers, Christian career resources, job-seeker, job search, Christian jobs, career planning, career change, career assessment, christian help occupation helpWhen My father was alive, for over 20 years he prayed for each of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren by name three times each day–every day rain or shine, without fail. He used to liken his practice to that of David, the Psalmist who prayed morning, noon and night (Psalm 55:17).

Speaking of King David, how wonderful it must have been to form such a profitable habit by spending time in prayer with God three times a day. I wonder how he disciplined himself to do this? King David was a busy man, often in battle or overseeing a huge kingdom, and more than once he was running for his life.

Yet he found the time to enjoy the great blessing of seeking the Lord three times a day…Marvelous!

Prayer is simply communicating with God. It doesn’t matter how often we pray, just as long as we actually DO pray! And, like my father, when we pray it must involve a give-and-take with active listening to what God wants to communicate to us.

I have to admit that I haven’t gotten quite into the habit of praying regularly three times a day; but I am working on “praying without ceasing” (1 Thess 5:17).
