christian careers, godly relationships, prayers for a secure job and guidance, prayer for career guidance, christian help occupation help, christian career, what does the bible say about careers, christian career guidance, asking god for career guidance, christian career planningSelf-confident interviewers are quite sure of their ability to source the right talent for their organizations. They tend to be conservative and more reserved than their outgoing counterparts.Their ability to sniff out a candidate’s weaknesses is legendary.

Here are some things to consider when interviewing with this type of hiring manager.

Personality Cues

  • Ability to size up a candidate within the first three minutes of the interview.
  • Has an agenda or process for how the interview will go including where the candidate will sit.
  • Immediately starts asking questions and does not waste time in idle chit-chat or ice-breakers.

What to Do

  • Focus on your strengths as you answer questions and describe your experience.
  • Don’t beat around the bush or get too comfortable in the interview. Watch how much you smile. Avoid nervous giggling at all costs.
  • Give a firm handshake and treat the interviewer with the utmost professional courtesy.
  • Don’t be defensive if the interviewer uses a confrontational style. Many self-confident interviewers will do this to catch you off guard.

The thing to remember when the interviewer has a self-confident style is to know what you want to accomplish in the interview and exhibit a low-key but somewhat take-charge manner.
