The word “pray” as defined in the dictionary means “to address God with devout petition; to request something fervently; to implore.”
When we pray we are certainly using these definitions but from God’s perspective, we are also doing so much more.
Christians are called to pray (Psalms 116:2). Prayer is as necessary as the air we breathe. Just as our bodies need the oxygen that air provides to survive, our spirits need the power that prayer provides to flourish.
We need to be in constant communion with the Lord in order for our souls to be properly nourished (Isaiah 64:9).
