Dear Althea DeBrule,

I just wanted to say thank you for this tool you have made available for the advancement of Gods kingdom.

I'm the counseling coordinator of a faith based drug rehabilitation centre in Lagos Nigeria called Wellspring Rehabilitation Centre managed and funded by the Redeemed Christian Church of God Apapa Family, where Jesus uses us to rehabilitate drug addicts, miscreants and prostitutes, oh what power and glory and wonders we have seen!

I'm a businessman and I've always been guided by God and His word, even through many mistakes, He has helped me with my own career and businesses.

I needed something like this to teach our residents and beneficiaries on how to hear God and be guided by His Holy Spirit concerning their careers.

We run a two stage training program, the first is discipleship which is the process that gets them off drugs and prostitution, and the second is the vocational which sets them up in a job and helps them build their lives once again, for social reintegration.

The second part had always been difficult because many of our guys are confused as to which way to go, which career to follow, I have no doubt that with the tools you have made available, this confusion has come to an end in the name of Jesus.

May the Lord reward your labor of love, may you continue to be a blessing and a useful laborer in His vineyard,

God bless you real good!!

Thank you so much for this posting - I found this at the right time as I am in that career rut - I have been for almost 3 years now. I feel like I have been searching for the right fit in terms of career for such a long time now and I just can't seem to understand what it is that God wants me to do. My current job is just a job - I have no passion or connection to it other than that it pays my bills and I feel so bad for feeling this way. There are so many people out there who would love a job and here I am with a job and cringing about it. I am looking forward to using the next 30 days to speak with God and understand where He wants me to be.
May God continue to bless you all and inspire you to bring us more of His word.

I am 18 years old, a pre-med student, and sometimes its so difficult for me to understand why some of the subjects are hard. My drive for medicine is slowly dwindling but I'm trying real hard for it not to. Honestly I just need prayer, encouragement something that says its gonna be alright, and here this the career you are supposed to do. I don't like wasting time, so I really don't waste time in school on a career that I'm not gonna be happy in, nor is it the will of God.

Hi Jamaal,

I am 58 years old and currently unemployed, In the past, I've also been convicted of criminal charges and had to get a pardon some years ago. I am currently unemployed because I didn't do my best to be impeccable with my duties. I am a recovering addict and now have a deeper understanding of what it means to be rigorously honest in all my dealings - work, marraige, friendship etc.,.

Voices of guilt, shame, and sorrow are frequent at this time. I pray, meditate and use a lot of inspirational material including 12 Step readings, scripture, prayers and audios that help me deal with my self-loathing.
One of my favourite techniques is to write out these voices of my "parasite" (some call it satan)with a blue or black pen. These chatterboxes reveal themselves as the inner critic, victim, perpetraitor and pretend pal. I use a lined notebook and give these "idiots" the floor as I write out their words (without too much time and detail)on the left side of the notebook. Then I document the negative affirmations and self-destructive agreements (I ams) that they've left me with.

After that I come back with a red pen and take these troublemakers to court as I respond to them on the right side of the page. The inner critic always loses to the "inspirer". The victim always falls to the "victor". The perpetraitor cannot compete with the "understanding forgiver" and the pretend pal does not stand a chance against my true friend the "insightful questioner". After this I use the red pen to oppose the negative, destructive beliefs and affirmations with reinforcing, productive insights and beliefs that are saturated with gratitude, inspiration, encouragement and kindness. These are the "I ams" that back me up and they carry a lot of truth.
The more I do this the quicker I am to recognize evil and illogical thought processes before they can govern my moods and attitudes.
Give it a shot for 30 days and see what happens. The devil hates confrontation and he hates being documented because it weakens him.
The "pen", especially that red one, is mightier than the sword.

I also googled, "30 Days of Prayer to Understand God's Career Plans for You" and will committ to you that I will follow it's suggestions." Why not check it out? Solutions always outnumber problems.

I'm on your side, Clyde!!!

Jamaal hang in there! Don't give up and just pray out loud to god what is troubling you in your life. It doesn't have to be fancy. Go to a Christian book store and find some books on prayer. Heck. Go to google .com and search for prayers of any type- for your life, job, career , spouse etc!!

Faye, first of all my prayer is that God will show you His divine purpose in the trials and adversity you have experienced in your career. Second, as you continue to pursue career aspirations, please keep in mind that your identity should be in Christ--not in what you achieve in your own strength or by using your own strategies. Once the identity issue is resolved, the doubt, stress and lack of peace will begin to dissipate as you learn to abide in Christ. Althea

What I desire right now, is to bring back the glory in my career as what I have achieved in the year 2000. In the year 2008, I got the wrong move to transfer to a new job and rested then a year to find pace in my heart and contentment. Now that i am back in the circulation hopefully, ive been dreaming and targetting such objective i find peace and contentment in my heart, but it seems destiny is not meant for it, but very hopeful that someday i could be able to reach it..

please help me to secure answers unto it since, i really cant understand why everything seems so dark and very unclear.

thanks!

Hello Jamaal,

Prayer is simply communicating with God. It is talking to Him in the simplest language possible--no fancy phrases or big sounding words; just pouring out your hear to Him. However, you must FIRST have a right relationship with Him through Jesus Christ, who paved the way with His death on a cross for us to be able to communicate freely with God. Prayer will not work unless you have this relationship. If you do not know Jesus Christ personally and have not accepted His atoning work on the cross, you should ask Him to save you right now! If you have received His free gift of salvation; then simply just pray. Tell Him of your fears, struggles and feelings. He promises to give you peace that passes all understanding--His peace, the only true peace there is.

Althea

I do not know how to pray. I am 29 and I have been so depressed for the past 5 years. Ive been through the worst situations I have ever been through in my life. and it seems like it has gotten harder to do right now (that i want to) than when i was younger with barely no responsibilities. I was convicted of a felony in 2005, and was sent to a boot camp for first time offenders. I have made a major change in my life, from the people I associate with to places I go. But no matter how hard I try I cannot get employment. This has sent me into a deep depression. I cannot focus. Every time I try to pray, I get sidetracked with guilt, shame, and depression. I have been trying everything to get my cdl but the more I try to get my past as far away as i can, the more im haunted by it. I wish people could get pass the application and see straight through to my heart, and they will see the real hard working determined Jamaal. Not the convicted felon. I need someone to teach me how to pray and pray for me. Thank you.
