The first Temple was built by Solomon and destroyed by the Babylonians. The second Temple was built by King Herod in 516 BC as the center of Hebrew worship. This Temple was located on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount. As glorious and elaborate as the two Hebrew Temples were, the most important room contained almost no furniture at all.
Known as the Holy of Holies, it housed the two tablets of the Ten Commandments. Unfortunately, the tablets disappeared when the Babylonians destroyed the first Temple, and during the Second Temple era, the Holy of Holies was just a small, entirely bare room. Only once a year, on Yom Kippur, the High Priest would enter this room and pray to God on Israel’s behalf.
This highest quality and meticulously detailed building model is easy to assemble and will provide hours of inspiration and worship as you recreate what inspired builders did centuries ago. Crafted by Jewish artisans, this model is approved by the Temple Institution in Jerusalem.
